|Suiseki Kai Show Gallery|
San Francisco Suiseki Kai recently held its 26th Annual Exhibit at the Japan Center in San Francisco. Many local suiseki enthusiasts attend this show, in addition to tourists and locals who find us when visiting the Japan Center. For some of these visitors it is the first time they have ever seen (or even heard of) suiseki, and they always seem to enjoy it.
The club encourages every member to exhibit several stones. Each member selects one of their displayed stones to be part of a competition, judged by the membership. The three stones with the most votes are awarded plaques, and the next five are awarded ribbons. The previous year’s award winners are displayed in the front window of the exhibition room.
In addition to suiseki, there are usually a few “biseki” displayed. These are viewing stones that may be enjoyed for their beautiful colors or patterns, or perhaps for a humorous shape.
These are the 2007 Plaque awards.
